Move the Money
Shift Our Power. Protect Our Future
Shift Our Power. Protect Our Future
When systems fail us, we strengthen ourselves.
When policies harm us, we move with intention.
When they disrespect our communities — we stop funding our own oppression.
🧱Persistent Inequities in Employment
Black workers continue to face wage gaps, stalled promotion opportunities, workplace bias, and limited access to high-quality jobs — even with equal or better qualifications.
💳Limited Access to Capital
Small loans, startup funding, mortgages, and business lines of credit remain disproportionately denied to Black borrowers, restricting opportunities to build wealth or grow businesses.
🎓Rising Costs of Higher Education
The price of college continues to climb while financial aid shrinks. Black students on the highgest average student loan debt in the nation — creating long-term financial strain for families
🚫Elimination of DEI Initiatives
Public and private institutions are actively rolling back Diversity, Equity & Inclusion programs—removing protections and opportunities designed to level the playing field.
⚖️Rollback of Affirmative Action
The Supreme Court decision eliminated a key mechanism that helped counteract educational inequities, further limiting upward mobility.
🥫Cuts in SNAP Benefits
Recent reductions in benefits have increased hardship for working families already facing rising costs in housing, groceries, medical care, and utilities.
🏛️County Government Negligence
Bruton Town Cemetery is the clearest example:
We are tax-paying citizens too — but our communities are not respected and protected equally.
Move the Money is not about deprivation. It's about strategy, discipline, and collective power.
Here's what we're asking of every household:
🎁 Reduce Holiday Spending
Limit or eliminate gift-buying
Say no to pressure, debt, and non-essential holiday expenses
Choose peace, stability, and long-term financial strength instead
🛑 Stop Accumulating Debt
Delay major purchases
Avoid new credit lines
Protect your household from predatory lending cycles that hit our communities hardest
⬇️Pay Down Debt
Free up income
Reduce financial strain
Prepare for long-term investment and family security
🏬Shift Spending to Black-Owned & Local Businesses
Support businesses that strengthen us — not systems that exploit us
Redirect everyday spending (food, services, repairs, clothing to Black, family-owned, or community-based businesses.
📚Educate Your Household
Teach children, partners, and family members:
Money is Power
How we spend it creates impact
Share the "Why" behind this movement
Build financial awareness and unity at home
✊🏾Stand Firm — Even When It's Uncomfortable
Changing habits takes courage
Systems working against us depend on our inaction
Collective action is our leverage — consistency is our power
This movement works when every household takes consistent, disciplined steps.
Here's how we shift power — together:
🌱We Break the Cycle
We interrupt the financial patterns that keep our families stressed, stretched, and struggling
We stop normalizing holiday debt, overspending, and paycheck-to-paycheck survival
We begin new cycles of discipline, stability, and generational wealth-building
🏡We Strengthen Our Households
Every house household reduces waste, cuts unnecessary spending, and gets clear about needs vs. wants
Families gain the breathing room needed to save, invest, and prepare for long-term security
Strong households become the foundation for strong communities
💵We Build Collective Power
When many families make small, disciplined shifts, the economic impact compounds
We redirect dollars toward Black-owned, local, and community-anchored businesses
Our spending becomes strategic — supporting people, not systems that harm us
✋🏾We Refuse to Normalize Harm
We stop participating in economic patterns designed to keep us dependent and in debt
We reject policies and institutions that deny us equity, access, and accountability
We withdraw our support — financial, cultural, and emotional — from systems that disrespect us
🚶🏾♂️🚶🏾♀️ We Move Together
Collective discipline turns individual choices into a community movement
Change happens faster because we act in unity, not isolation
We show our children, families, and peers what empowered, intentional living looks like
If you know a business that serves with integrity, community care, and excellence, please share it with so we can begin the vetting process.
